NFL Football: Atlanta Falcons @ Philadelphia Eagles

Welcome to football! We are finally back and ready to roll with a brand new NFL season before us. There is nothing as exciting as a new NFL season, all teams are back at an 0-0 record and whether you are an Eagles fan, Browns fan, Patriots fan, or Dolphins fan this is the time where every person feels their team has the opportunity to go the distance.

Opening night begins with the Super Bowl Champions, Philadelphia Eagles taking on one of the teams they had to get past in the NFC playoffs last year, the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons come into this game with Matt Ryan making it known that this is the “best” Falcons team he has seen since his time on the team. This is the second year of their offensive coordinators offense, so expect the offense to be a little more comfortable in the attack, and with the likes of Matt Ryan at the helm, combined with a duo back attack between Freeman and Coleman, and then add in Julio Jones and company. The Falcons offense will certainly be able to add a lot of trouble for this Eagles defense. Outside of offense, the Falcons defense may be extremely underrated. Not only does the offense have a bone to pick with the Eagles, but the defense has a point to prove, since they were shown the door last year in the playoffs to back up QB, Foles.

The Eagles are a little banged up and injury woes have certainly hit them full force. While we can’t ignore that fact, we can’t ignore what the Eagles did last year….with injury woes during the playoffs. When Vegas originally came out the line for this game we were at a -4.5 favorite for the Eagles. That line has now dropped to pretty much a pick ’em. Even with a lot of money shifting the line, it is hard to turn an eye to the Eagles going 7-1 last year at home, and some reason for large line movement could be their extremely poor performance in pre-season. Everything points towards the Falcons being the better team, but how do you doubt a team that beat every odd set against them last season and win a Super Bowl?

Enjoy the first game of the season and can’t wait for a great and profitable season!
